According to our Head of Roses Department, Ishai Sharon, the summer period is close to end. He continues to state that people are coming back from holidays and even the weather has begun to change and finally getting cooler.
“On week 33-34,” Ishai says, “the prices of the Dutch summer flowers like Chrysanthemum, Gypsophila Helianthus and even Gerbera went extremely higher because of the small quantities after the hot period.”
“For the roses as well, we can see improvement in week 34 and we expect higher prices next week,” Ishai affirms.
The local roses suffered from the hot period and we can see that a lot of roses are much more short compare to other years.
The supply from Ethiopia is quite regular but the production and the supply from Kenya is very low due to very cold weather, cloudy days and no sun. From Ishai’s expert view, we already feel lack of quantity and higher demand and next week we should see the improvement on the roses market.
September is suppose to be a good months in the market, with the quality of the Kenyan roses improved. “It is very important to bring the best product to the market,” Ishai concludes.
