Dudi Bonomo, Head of Summer Flowers with Flower Optimal Connection is glad to report to us that for the last two weeks, August prices were very good. He adds that these market good prices were more noticeable for the Gypsophila variety sales. In fact prices for Gypsophila were reported to be very high. However, he informs the team that for week 39 prices went down a little.
On the other hand Dudi noted that during the last week, all of the bouquet suppliers had started to use more leaves. This was especially so for those who were dealing in the autumn colors of Brown, Orange, Dark Greens and others. According to him the above autumn colors were also cheaper in the market. He also points out that all buyers in the market are bracing for a slowdown in demand, and this slowdown is expected to last for a further 2 to 3 weeks before the market picks up again thereafter.
Dudi is of the view that the biggest change in the market will happen when local growers start to come towards the end of their season. And the supply, according to Dudi, will shift more towards the import growers.
A New Partnership
F. Optimal Connection is more than happy to welcome a new farm into the market, Chain Creek farm from Kenya. The Chain Creek farm will begin by supplying Agapanthus to the auction before expanding to the supply of other varieties. We wish them the best in their journey and we look forward to our continued and beneficial partnership
.
Weather Forecast
The weather, as Dudi states, is expected to be normal for the season and should not influence the prices in any dramatic way.
In conclusion, Dudi points out that in the coming weeks we expect to see more varieties to hit the market, such as Wax Flowers, Helianthus and Phlox.
