Head of Roses Department, Ishai Sharon, was able to sit down with us and enlighten us with his views on the performance of the current flower market. “Unfortunately, from week 37 the prices were very low for the whole flower market, especially for roses,” Ishai begins. “When we compare this period to the years before, it is the worst ever.”
He he explains that higher temperatures in Europe and large quantity supply of roses were the main reasons for this drop in prices.
From Ishai’s assessment, he advises that we have to analyze more deeply and look further into the season. In his expert opinion there is some correlation between the low costs, cheap vacations and the demand for flowers. “The consumers prefer to spend more money on vacations, they are no longer at home and are buying less flowers!” Ishai affirms.
However, he is optimistic that the temperatures in Europe are going down and he hopes for more demand in sales from the 1st of November, the All Saints.
“Let’s hope for a better period, we all need it,” Ishai concludes.
